Spine is in gold gilt with 5 compartments with four bands. Slight leanThere is a very light crack at the edge of spine and front board. Interior boards…and free end pages are marbled. Frontis piece is intact. Mild foxing through out, along with penciled margin notes. Otherwise clean with tight binding.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. This is a small format hardback book (approx. 6" x 4"). The book is in Very Good condition and is lacking a dust jacket. The spine ends and corners of the book covers have some light bumping, rubbing and wear. The text pages are generally clean, though there is some light generalized toning / ye…llowing. "Charles Lamb (10 February 1775 27 December 1834) was an English essayist, poet, and antiquarian, best known for his Essays of Elia and for the children's book Tales from Shakespeare, co-authored with his sister, Mary Lamb (17641847). Friends with such literary luminaries as Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Robert Southey, William Wordsworth, Dorothy Wordsworth and William Hazlitt, Lamb was at the centre of a major literary circle in England. He has been referred to by E. V. Lucas, his principal biographer, as "the most lovable figure in English literature". ".

Hardback, cloth. Condizione: Good-. No Jacket. The History of England from the Accession of James the Second, by Lord Macaulay, edited by Charles Harding Firth, M.A., illustrated six-volume set. Hardback, 1913-1915, published by Macmillan and Co., Limited, London, cxix + 3105 pages, with 900 illustrations, including 44 in colour….Super Royal Octavo/8vo, measures around 10" by 7" by 1 1/2 - 1 3/4". Blue cloth binding, gilt lettering to front boards and spines. A little marking and some scuffing to binding but quite clean and colouring still quite vivid, though some discolouration and a bit more marking to spines. Signs of wear, rubbing at edges and on hinges. A little tearing to the heads and tails of spines. Sightly bumped and torn corners. Some slackness to bindings, cracking to front inner hinges of volumes 1, 2 and 5, the odd crack elsewhere. A loose colour plate in volume 2 between pages 722-723. Book contents appear to be otherwise reasonably firm. Page edges slightly browned, marked and scuffed, but generally quite clean. Upper page edges gilt, with some scuffing and marking but still quite visible. A little marking to endpapers, the odd mark to page surfaces but otherwise clean and do not appear to contain any inscriptions, underlining, marginalia, etc. See pictures for further information.Cracking to front inner hinges of volumes 1, 2 and 5. Loose plate to volume 2. Upper page edges gilt. 3105 pp. 1913-15.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Ex school book (Acton County School), dated Midsummer, 1909. Beautifully leather bound with school crest on front cover with stunning gilt edging, and gilt title impression on spine, along with gorgeous gilt decoration. Frontispiece, back pages and end of papers all wonderfully marble…d. On titled page, it has printed in capital letters "REISSUE". The book is in really good condition, normal wear and marks apply consistent with use and age. There is the odd foxing mark, hardly noticeable and in only a small number of places and does not affect the overall beauty of the book. 385 pages, all intact, nice tight binding and all pages, text, maps and illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. A truly wonderful book, that would grace any stylish home library.
