The corners are lightly bumped with shelf wear; all three edges are beautifully marbled. The endpaper are aged and have a former owners book plate; the hinge has cracked but, is holding just fine. The frontispiece "Portrait of Walton" still has the tissue attached. There are 203 wood engravings and 26 total steel engravings including the frontispiece. The interior is a little aged, but still very bright. 496pp. which includes the index.

The book also has a nice blue coloured, cotton, page marker. All pages, text and fabulous illustrations are in really good, clean, readable order. The odd and occasional foxing mark, hardly noticeable. A truly lovely book that would adorn any stylish library.

Slight, even warping of the boards, but other than light wear, the binding has an uncommon freshness to it.
