A little wear to extremities and some foxing, largely confined to flyleaves and edges. 1956 signature on first free endpaper. Illustrated by 12 plates, including frontispiece. Twelve short essays on British mountains. The contributors include James Fisher and Geoffrey Grigson. The mountains depicted in photographs and paintings include Great Gable, Ingleborough, Stack Polly, Helvellyn, Corserine (Galloway), Snowdon, Ben Nevis and Whernside.
