I have recently acquired a series of books from the Derrydale Press of Lyon, Mississippi about hunting and fishing and outdoor life. These books are extremely well-made, in quality bindings, and have been very well cared for by their former owner. I am going to list them over the course of the next few days, together, to facilitate an interested buyer finding them among my many listings. Here is another, however, which will be difficult to fully describe because it is still contained in the shrink-wrap plastic and I am reluctant to remove it to see what is inside. This book is titled: American Big Game Fishing, and it was edited by Eugene V. Connett. It is my understanding, from online research that it is a series of classic fishing stories written by well-known outdoorsmen, including Lynn Bogue Hunt, Ernest Hemingway, Van Campen Heilner, Kip Farrington, etc. This large leather-bound hard cover book (7 ¾ x 10 ¾ inches, 251 pages) was published by the Derrydale Press, dated 1993 and part of a limited-edition of 2500 copies. It is bound in black leather with gilt decorations and titles and a paste-down color cameo of a Sailfish jumping. I believe that it is well illustrated and includes both color and b&w plates. The page edges are full gilt and I expect that the endpaper is decorated, as typical of the vintage books from the publisher, with marbled papers. Condition: This book is in fine condition owing to the fact that it is still contained in the original shrink-wrap in which it was shipped. There is no bumping to the corners or spine tips and the leather covers look clean and bright. I doubt you will be disappointed with the condition.
