Aggiungi al carrelloSoft cover. Condizione: Fine. The London Aphrodite; edited by Jack Lindsay & P. R. Stephensen; A literary Periodical; Numbers One to Six (all issued), published by the Fanfrolico Press, London, 1928-29. All six issues are in fine condition, with mylar covers, and are enclosed in a custom-made box. There are a total of 496 pages. There is an intimate full-page letter, in Jack Lindsay's handwriting, to Gordon Bottomley, a long-time supporter of Jack Lindsay and the Fanfrolico Press, and some of his work was published by Lindsay. The letter in inserted inside issue No. 6, where there is a reference to Bottomley in the issue as marked by a pencilled X on pages 473, 474, 475 and 480. A very nice association copy. A history of the press The Fanfrolico Press; Satyrs, Fauns & Fine Books, by John Arnold was published by the Private Libraries Association in 2009. Here is some commentary from that history relating to these issues A literary periodical edited by Jack Lindsay and P. R. Stephensen, with five reproductions of paintings or prints by Norman Lindsay, Lionel Ellis, and Elioth Gruner and a repeated headpiece by Norman Lindsay. The wrapper colours are as follows: number one, pale green; two, red-brown; three, pale blue-grey; four, pale pink; five, pale brown; and six, grey. Some of the authors found in the six issues include Liam O'Flaherty, Hugh McCrae, Sacheverell Sitwell, T. F. Powys, Norman Lindsay, Peter Meadows, Rhys Davies, Aldous Huxley, Frederick Carter, Norman Dougles, Elza de Locre, and Albert Parsons Sachs. A finer set of these six publications of the Fanfrolico Press very probably does not exist. Signed by Author(s).
