Heavy wear to corners or new binding with frays exposing card of underlayer, wear through to card at bottom edges in places. Ink presentation inscription dated 1856 to free end-paper. Gilt to all page-edges. Outstanding b/w illustrations within text. Slight blotching to a good percentage of pages, but text is otherwise nice & clean. Binding a little strained in places. Well used.
