Wraps. Condizione: Good. Bot Roda (illustratore). 116 pages, plus covers. Illustrations (most in color). Cover has some wear and soiling, and a small edge tear at the bottom front. Rick Sutcliffe is on the cover and is the subject of an article entitled "Innings and Intangibles" by Louis Berney. The Baltimore Orioles are an American professional baseball team. The Orioles compete as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. As one of the AL's original eight charter franchises when the league was established in 1901, this particular franchise spent its first year as a major league club in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as the Milwaukee Brewers before moving to St. Louis, Missouri to become the St. Louis Browns. After 52 often-beleaguered years in St. Louis, the franchise was purchased in November 1953 by a syndicate of Baltimore business interests led by attorney Clarence Miles and Mayor Thomas D'Alesandro, Jr. The team's current majority owner is lawyer Peter Angelos. Richard Lee Sutcliffe (born June 21, 1956), nicknamed "The Red Baron" is a former American Major League Baseball pitcher with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and the St. Louis Cardinals between 1976 and 1994. Sutcliffe is currently a broadcaster for ESPN. A right-hander, Sutcliffe was a three-time All-Star. On July 29, 1988 in Philadelphia, Rick achieved one of baseball's rarest feats, especially for a pitcher by stealing home plate during an 8-3 win over the Phillies, in which he also notched the victory. He holds the unique distinction of having won each of the following league awards, once each, and each in a different season: Rookie of the Year (1979), Cy Young Award (1984), ERA leader (1982), and wins leader (1987). After his retirement from baseball, Sutcliffe became a color commentator for the San Diego Padres on Channel 4 San Diego, ESPN (1998-present) and DirecTV/MLB International (since 2010). He also broadcasts the World Series and either the ALCS or NLCS for MLB International, where he is teamed with Gary Thorne. Presumed First Edition, First printing thus.

"Here is a powerful selection of fiction and nonfiction mirroring the Negro experience in America. The time sequence of the book extends from the midnight of slave time to now - 11 P.M. (when 'for America this may be the last opportunity she has to deal with black Americans and negotiate. Before the terrifying prospects of internal strife, armed suppression and needless destruction descend fully upon us all.' - Whitney M. Young, Jr.). The changes in black and white consciousness over the years are clearly evident in this clockwise turn of fiction and events". Contributors include James Baldwin, Claude Brown, T.R.
