Soft cover. Condizione: As New. 1st Edition. First edition, 1st printing, of the catalogue for the exhibition in 2007 at the Williams College Museum of Art. Pristine, clean & tight copy, unread in AS NEW condition, a perfect paperback with French flaps, quite presentable. "Paris in the 1920s---art, literature, the Lost Generation. The glitterati who inhabited this legendary world---F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Pablo Picasso, Cole Porter, Man Ray, Dorothy Parker and a host of others---were members of an intimate circle centered around Sara and Gerald Murphy. The Murphys, who endeavored to make art of their own lives, embodied a predominant theme of the 1920s: life as one would like it to be versus life as it is. MAKING IT NEW is a captivating and absorbing collection of essays examining through images and text the Murphys' influence on a remarkable constellation of artists---from multiple points of view, the Murphys' artistically adventurous way of life and their ability to confer distinction on everything, from the inconsequential to the grand. This beautifully illustrated volume features art by Gerald Murphy, Pablo Picasso, Fernand Leger, Man Ray & many others, in addition to numerous documentary photographs.".

"When and how did the Allies find out about the Holocaust, and what were the intelligence sources that delivered the information? This fundamental collection of research studies digs deeply into that sensitive topic and sheds new light on the realities of code-breaking and understanding of what was happening in Nazi-occupied Europe during the Second World War. Documents with their sources have been assembled from many previously closed archives. Includes a preface by David Bankier and an introductory essay by Gerhard L. Weinberg, along with the following international scholars of the Second World War and the Holocaust: David Alvarez, Shlomo Aronson, Peter R. Black, Richard Breitman, Hilary Earl, Tuvia Friling, Norman J.W. Goda, Robert Hanyok, Sébastien Laurent, Katrin Paehler, Stephen Tyas, and Piotr Wrobel." The book is in excellent condition. There are no inscriptions and all contents are tight and clean.

Prima edizione
First edition (not stated). Unpaged - approximately 300 pages. Hardcover: H 30.75cm x L 23.75cm. White cloth with some soiling and light staining, red stamped lettering and decoration to front board and spine with light flaking to former and stronger flaking to latter. Brown staining at bottom of front free endpaper recto; scattered light soiling to interior pages which, overall, remain clean; bottom fore-edge corners of three leaves at rear are creased from past fold-ins. Binding is firm. A very good- copy. With front and rear color endpaper maps of eastern and western Pacific and a short introductory essay by USS Ranger second-in-command Captain Noel Gayler (who, of course, later rose to Admiral, was director of the National Security Agency, and was appointed Commander in Chief of the U.S. Pacific Command). Brief text passages and numerous captioned b/w photographs (some color photos and occasional illustrations too) review the USS Ranger cruise and its crew for its Western Pacific Ocean deployment for January to July 1959 with ports of call in Hawaii, Yokosuka, Buckner Bay (Nakagusuku Bay), Sasebo, Manila, Subic Bay, and Hong Kong. An uncommon US Navy cruisebook as OCLC locates copies at only three member institutions - East Carolina University, United States Naval Academy, and Japan's National Diet Library - with a further search citing another copy held by the [U.S.] Naval History and Heritage Command Navy Department Library. Tokyo printer's statement on rear free endpaper recto but no publication date is specified; presumably the cruisebook was issued in late 1959 or perhaps early 1960. Please note that this large book has an approximate shipping weight of 4.75 pounds and will require additional postage for any postal class other than domestic Media Mail.
