Hardcover. A very good copy. Some shelf wear, with pictorial paper over boards worn at the corners; no dust jacket. Page block is slightly bowed. Pages are clean and undamaged. Life, Look, Picture Post, Quick and Kristall--once upon a time, you could buy them at the kiosk around the corner, and they were the most accessible, exciting, up-to-date form of news available. Nowadays they are an anachronism, replaced by the mass media of television, newspapers and the internet. But photojournalism has existed for the last 150 years, and photojournalists have spent that time on the front lines, not only in times of war but in times of peace, recording the important events of contemporary history alongside the situations of everyday life, condensing the essential of a story in just a few pages of pictures. Kiosk reprints original newspaper pages produced between 1839 and 1973, from nineteenth-century illustrations of new railway stations to legendary photo series taken in Vietnam, from Roger Fenton to Robert Capa, from the Berliner Illustrirte Zeitung to USSR in Construction, from Collier's Weekly to AIZ to Vu.

Format is approximately 11.25 inches by 15 inches. DJ has slight wear and soiling. Publisher's ephemera laid in. Don Higginbotham (May 22, 1931 - June 22, 2008) was an American historian and Dowd Professor of History at the University of North Carolina. A leading scholar of George Washington, he was a pioneering practitioner of the "new" military history and an expert on colonial and revolutionary America and the early national United States. He served twice (1975-76 and 1998-99) as visiting professor of history at the United States Military Academy. Kenneth Nebenzahl lectures and writes in the fields of early mapping, exploration and American history. Nebenzahl served many years as a consultant to Rand McNally & Co., the Hudson's Bay Company and The Library of Congress. As an aid to the modern day reader, each of the maps is accompanied by some 300 words of commentary by Nebenzahl. These 'captions' help interprets the action depicted, explain the origin of the maps, and the significance of the engagement, as the situation warrants. Higginbotham contributes a 40,000 word essay on the background of the war. Higginbotham's text could stand as a worthy book on its own. As it is, much of the understanding of the how and why of the events mapped springs from this well-written commentary. Maps were to the Revolutionary War what television was to the Vietnam War and this atlas includes 54 battle maps reproduced in full color along with an accompanying commentary by Don Higginbotham tracing the events of the successive actions. This Atlas is the most unusual and comprehensive of its kind. It is truly a unique effort, telling the story of the American battle for independence with the help of priceless maps, many of which had not been reproduced since their original appearance over 200 years ago. Drawn by actual eye-witnesses to the events described, the maps capture the immediacy and excitement of the moment. The 54 maps are reproduced in full color with a remarkable degree of detail. Four maps present the theaters of the War. Accompanying each map is a clearly written commentary describing the events portrayed.

White Cover Shows Minor Soil. Illustrated with Examples (illustratore). Paperback : soft cover edition in good to better condition, a typical used book with slight wear to edges and spine. Overall good / nice copy of this scarce title. Excellent reading on the subject. A good book to enjoy and keep on hand for yourself. Or would make a GREAT GIFT for the fan / reader in your life. Reading is one of the great pleasures in life. Excerpt from wikipedia: A buy-sell agreement may be thought of as a sort of "premarital agreement" between business partners/shareholders. It is sometimes called a 'business will'. An insured buy-sell agreement (agreement funded with life insurance on the participating owner's lives) is often recommended by business succession specialists and financial planners to ensure the buy-sell arrangement is well-funded and also to guarantee there will be money when the buy-sell event is triggered. In the sale of a business, a buy-sell clause (or Shotgun clause) in a shareholder agreement preserves continuity of ownership in the business and ensures that everyone is fairly treated, the buyer as well as the seller. It is a binding contract between business partners or shareholders about the future ownership of the business. A buy-sell agreement is made up of several legally binding clauses in a business partnership or operating agreement (or it can be a separate agreement that stands on its own) that can control the following business decisions: * Who can buy a departing partner's or shareholder's share of the business (this may include outsiders or be limited to other partners/shareholders); * What events will trigger a buyout, (the most common events that trigger a buyout are: death, disability, retirement, or an owner leaving the company) and; * What price will be paid for a partner's or shareholder's interest in the partnership and so on. Buy-sell agreement can be in the form of a cross-purchase plan or a repurchase (entity or stock-redemption) plan. For greater neutrality and effectiveness of the buy-sell arrangement, the service of a corporate trustee is recommended. Please send us a note if you have any questions. Thank you. Book.

This is considered the cheaper edition published for the war-time rationing and sacrifice. Near fine volume in good wrapper. Antiquarian inscription in fountain pen at front blank endpaper: "To Haynie Grange, Fraternally yours, ---- Hill." Haynie Grange #169 has a hall inland from the Pacific coast in Blaine, Washington and adjacent the border with Canada. Accompanying inscription, and signed by same Grange leader (unable to decipher signature), is a typed letter with Thomas Jefferson bust as letterhead, expressing the importance of this volume and its relevance to "The Grange." The organization is officially titled: The National Grange of the Order of Patrons of Husbandry - an agricultural, farming and social group founded in 1867 with chapters across America. It also has some early ties to the secrecy and ritual of Freemasonry, innocuous or not. The Grange encourages farming families to band together to promote the well-being of the community and agriculture. Founded after the Civil War in 1867, it is the oldest American agricultural advocate with national scope. The Grange actively lobbied state legislatures and Congress for political goals, such as the Granger Laws to lower rates charged by railroads, and rural mail delivery by the Post Office. Contents: "Foreword by Edward Boyking; Text (Quotations, Essays); Bible, Appendix: 1. Chronological History of Thomas Jefferson; 2. Bibliography; 3. Index." From prelude: "His were Conquests - the Conquests of truth over error, of reason over prejudice, of wisdom over violence. Victories of the mind! Triumphs of patriotism and philanthropy!" From flap summary: "This is a collection of the finest writings by Thomas Jefferson, a very quotable man. Edward Boykin has done eight years of research through the papers, books, letters and notes of the great American to produce a book which is a treasure of Jeffersonisms. In the course of a long career, Jefferson kept up a prodigious correspondence and wrote on one subject after another, in each of whcih he seemed to be fully versed. And well it may have been, since Jefferson was an inventor, architect, scholar, scientist, statesman, politician, diplomat, farmer, musician, author, mathematician, lawyer, philosopher and, most of all, a man who never lost sight of the fact no country is greater than its people! He never lost touch with common man, a fact which this book eloquently reveals. Arranged under helpful headings, the quotations from Jefferson, from three lines to several thousand words, are cross-indexed for reference. Included also is the complete text of his celebrated 'Bible,' The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth." Printed in the United States of America. 301 pages. Insured post.
