Restored (pasted with paper strip) bottom edge of front cover and spine, cover corners are lightly worn, slight soiling on back cover; internally quite in fine condition with occasional fingerprints. Book inscribed by author to his friend Estonian musician and music teacher Endel Laos and contains some author's remarks from the music terminology such as fugue and rondo (evidently because author received musicology education and wanted to put his verses to songs). Eduard Visnapuu (1895-1969), brother of famous Estonian poet and dramatist Hendrik Visnapuu, was musicologist, music teacher and criric. He edited a number of musical magazines and also was known as a writer. This book of sensitive and sentimental verses in which on the one hand author shows the inner world of an individual, on the other hand life on a global scale, leaving aside intermediate stage describing today's human society. Reflection on life is major theme of verses, but sometimes author reaches the most pessimistic conclusions. However, in the second part of the book author succeed in freeing himself from a gloomy mood and presents simpler verses about nature and sincere joyful poems. Attractive avant-garde cover design created by Felix Randel (until 1936 Johannsen) (1901-1977) who has received a formation at the Higher Art School Pallas and was an important member of Eesti Kunstnikkude Rühm (Estonian Artists' Group) which united a new generation of painters committed to Cubist experimentation.
