Pages toned but otherwise clean and unmarked.Features Edwin Way Teale's "D D T: The insect-killer that can be either boon or menace" (pp. 121-124, 162), a warning against indiscriminate use of the new insecticide seventeen years before Silent Spring; Teale concludes DDT must remain "a rifle instead of a shotgun weapon." An editorial at p. 145, A World "Free of Insects," also quotes the American Society of Economic Entomologists on the chemical's limitations.
