Illustrated paper covers toned overall, light bumping and creasing to edges and corners, scattered specks of foxing. Staple bound, binding tight. Faint dampstain to upper outer corner of text block with a visible tidemark, light cockling and mild corner creasing. Pages toned but otherwise clean and unmarked.Features Edwin Way Teale's "D D T: The insect-killer that can be either boon or menace" (pp. 121-124, 162), a warning against indiscriminate use of the new insecticide seventeen years before Silent Spring; Teale concludes DDT must remain "a rifle instead of a shotgun weapon."
