Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good Minus. Reprint. This Literary Guild of America reprint edition was published in the same year as the 1st Edition. This copy is almost 100 years old, has been well taken care of and is in fine condition. Its construction is unlike most of the poorly made book club e…ditions. The buckram covered boards, high quality paper and matching top stain add up to a handsome edition possibly as desirable and rare as the first edition. The text block is solid, clean and square. Pictorial endpapers are clear of markings with small previous owner's bookplate under front flap. Spine tight, boards rigid and tips pointed. Slight push to spine ends. There is no book club deboss on the rear cover. The jacket is in very good minus condition and has some closed tearing along backstrip seams and chipping/loss at spine ends and some edges. It looks sleek in a shiny new plastic cover. Shipping box is suitable for wrapping with a non-price listed purchase order inside along with biodegradable packing.

Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book presents a compelling argument that contradicts popular US perceptions of Great Britain as a country driven by a desire to monopolize. In fact, the author argues, the UK doesnât exercise monopolies or create any substantial obstacles to other nationsâ trade and commerce. Thi…s is the case in the UK itself, its vast empire, and its self-governing colonies. The author's rigorous examination of history reveals that the widespread US belief of the UKâs malevolence is not based in fact, which has led to unnecessary international tension. The bookâs insights will significantly challenge readersâ understanding of UK/US relations. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.

Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. An interesting copy -- signed by Edward J. Phelps -- of this publication of Phelps' oral argument at an 1893 international arbitration hearing in Paris to settle The Bering Sea Controversy between the United States and Great Britain over fishing rights in the Bering Sea. Vermonter P…helps was a leading American jurist of the later half of the 19th Century including work as a founder and third president of the American Bar Association. He was also the U.S. Envoy to Great Britain -- a role that he perhaps overvalued when he reportedly declined an appointment as U.S. Chief Justice of the United States from President Grover Cleveland to remain at the Court of St. James. Phelps and the U.S. were routed in the arbitration hearing, the expansive U.S. claims to exclusive rights over the seals, etc. found to be overreaching. This copy is hand-signed "With Phelps' Compliments" on a front endpaper. The bookplate of John Rutledge Abney -- the Solicitor General of South Carolina 1876-1880 -- inson the front pastedown page. Black cloth, 345 pages. Has a bit of edge wear and a closed tear on a blank endpaper. Signed by Author(s).
