'.Hale drew his revolver on Krempkau and told Campbell to draw, that he had him covered. Campbell said that it was not his fight and started away, seeing that there would be an encounter. Hale and Krempkau had commenced shooting about the same time. Hale fell once against a pillar with a death wound, but kept on shooting. Krempkau received a death wound at first, but stood on his feet and shot several times. One of the other wounded men shot Campbell in the foot as he was walking across the street. About this time, Marshal Stoudenmire came running up and shot Hale and killed an observer, and then shot Campbell in his right arm. Campbell attempted to draw with his left hand and Stoudenmire shot him to the ground.'
