Soft cover. Condizione: Good. Original wraps 22x28cm with b/w cross section of a Saudi oilfield to the front by Harold Hoopes. 24pp including wraps with several b/w photos and drawings. Covers good with a hard vertical centrefold crease to the front, and the recipient's mailing details printed to the back (Anthony E. Ramirez, a social studies teacher in San Francisco). Interiors very good. Aramco World was at this time edited by T.O. Phillips, and issued monthly by Aramco's PR Department in New York. Phillips transformed what was a utilitarian in-house bulletin into a professionally produced magazine targeting a much wider audience, maintaining a strong focus on Saudi Arabia and the region. The cover story describes Aramco's methods "to guard the future of precious oil reservoirs - a normal part of good day-to-day oil field procedures", with scenes from Abqaiq, Ain Dar, the Saudi Cement Company, and elsewhere. Other Saudi content includes the first aerial exploration of the new concession in 1934 (vintage photos of Dick Kerr, Charley Rocheville, John Mountain, Rus Gerow with their Fairchild 71); and the development of desert travel from camel to road and rail including Aramco's specialised equipment. Other articles cover Arabian music; architecture in the ancient Middle East; a history of globe making; and the modern match. Photographers include Aramco's own V.K. Antony; T.F. Walters; Abd al-Latif Yousef; Max Steineke; Robert Yarnall Richie; Harold Corsini; Khalil Abou El-Nasr; and Russell Lee. Hoopes, Harold D.; V.K. Antony; T.F. Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Original wraps 22x28cm with b/w illustration of a Saudi Industrial Gas Company worker in Al Khobar. 24pp including wraps with several b/w photos and drawings. Very good with recipient's mailing details printed to the back (Anthony E. Ramirez, a social studies teacher in San Francisco). The cover story (continued and concluded in the February 1962 issue) describes Aramco's role in fostering and developing local talent in Saudi Arabia: "Aramco found oil in Saudi Arabia; it also discovered the rich human resources of the Saudi Arab himself". Its initiative targeted industry, merchants, and agriculture, and saw the formation of the Arab Industrial Development Department. Other Saudi-related articles include a profile of Abdul Wahab Mansour al-Moallam ("a Qatif nurseryman has that very special touch that makes the desert bloom"), and Asir ("Saudi Arabia's green and little-known province"). Other articles cover Isfahan, Herodotus ("first tourist in the Middle East"), a history of the bow and arrow, and US patenting. Photographers include Aramco's own B.H. Moody, Khalil Abou El-Nasr, Abd al-Latif Yousef, and B.S. Bates. Hoopes, Harold D.; B.H. Moody; Khalil Abou El-Nasr; Abd al-Latif Yousef; B.S. Bates (illustratore).…
