Hardcover. First Edition (2004), so stated. First Printing indicated by a complete numerical sequence. Very Near Fine: shows only a small, seeming stray and unintentional yellow mark at the bottom edge (so we cannot rule out the possiblility that this is a remainder); the binding is square and secure; the text is clean. Free of creased or dog-eared pages in the text. Free of underlining, hi-lighting, notations, or marginalia. Free of any ownership names, dates, addresses, notations, inscriptions, stamps, plates, or labels. A handsome, nearly-new copy, structurally sound and tightly bound, showing a single unobtrusive cosmetic flaw. Bright and Clean. Corners sharp. Appears unused and unread. Very close to 'As New'. Still has that pleasant "new book" fragrance. NOT a Book-Club or Ex-Library. 8vo. (9.5 x 6.4 x 1.25 inches). xvi, 382 pages. Language: English. Weight: 1 pound, 10 ounces. Debating Historical Issues in the Media of the Time Series. Hardcover: Pictorial Laminate Boards. First Edition (2004), so stated. First Printing indicated by a complete numerical sequence.…

Hardcover. Octavo. Hardcover. Bound in red/green cloth with silver titles. xxxi, 348 pages ; 25 cm. Little has been published about press organizations, and even less about women's press organizations. This book is the first to document the history of women's press organizations. In addition to rich historical accounts of some of these organizations, it also provides a picture of many of the women journalists involved in these press organizations, many of whom were leaders, both in journalism and in the social movements of their time. This book is a description and analysis of forty women's press organizations that have been key to the development of women writers of the press since the first established organization in 1881. Each entry describes the challenges faced by women that brought about the establishment of the organization at that particular time and place, some of the women who played key roles in the group's leadership, the group' s major activities and programs and its contributions to women of the press. The main purpose of these organizations was to provide women with a place where they could discuss professional issues and career strategies at a time when they were largely excluded from or marginalized by male-dominated media institutions. However, many also reflected the interests of some of the social and political reform movements associated with the women's movements of the 19th and 20th centuries, including the woman suffrage, peace, and ERA movements. Although some of the organizations described here no longer exist, new ones have taken on the challenge, in a profession where women still do not have equity. VG+. Light bump to top rear fore edge board corner. Publishers announcement laid in front.…

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Beginning with an extensive overview essay of the period, this book focuses on the issues of the Progressive Era through contemporary accounts of the people involved. Each issue is presented with an introductory essay and multiple primary documents from the newspapers of the day, which illustrate both sides of the debate. This is a perfect resource for students interested in the controversial and tumultuous changes America underwent during the Industrial Age and up to the start of World War I.With the death of southern reconstruction, Americans looked first westward and then abroad to fulfill their manifest destiny. Along the way, robber barons built railroads and oil trusts, populism burned across the prairies, currency went off the gold standard, immigrants poured into urban areas, and the United States won imperial outposts in Cuba and the Philippines.
