Generously illustrated throughout in black and white, showing vehicles and parts. Dark green cloth, 483 pages, no dustjacket, most likely as issued. Covers scuffed, especially at the extremities, with some old spotting to the lower portion of the front cover, hinges internally neatly repaired, text block sound but no longer firm, no loosened pages, pages genererally clean with a few instances of light finger soil to the margins, no names or other markings. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

Contents page reads like a history of auto technology: "The Steam propelled car; The Electric car; the Gasoline car; General principles of automobile construction; Control Systems ." Back of fep states: McGraw-Hill Book Club and includes a title list, including "Coal Age" and "Ingenieria international" and "power chemical." Much more than the operation of gasoline engines can be gleaned from this cultural artifact.

Rubbed along the edges and some scratching to the boards. Previous owner's name and some erased scribble on the front free endpaper. Small stain affects some of the preliminary pages including the title page. Otherwise, the inside pages have occasional soil, with a few tiny corner turns and a few pages having some rippling. Blindstamped "Bedford Branch YMCA Automobile School 421 Bedford Avenue Brooklyn New York" on the upper board, this was a special edition printed exclusively for the school. Looks like their students used it. Illustrated in black and white.
