The memoirs of Surgeon-Commander Herbert Ellis (1921-2014), who served as a Flying Doctor, in a Meteor 7, with the Fleet Air Arm during the 1940s and 50s. Well known for conducting experiments on himself, he invented the 'goon suit', the 'bone dome' and the audible beep on patient monitoring machines that could be heard above the noise of the aircraft.
