Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Theological Discourses on Social Media will examine ten different social media platforms across three overarching parts. The task throughout is, first, to delineate the configuration and intent of a given form of social media and, second, to probe its implications for theology. On the whole, the volume will focus on the Judeo-Christian tradition, though dialogue with and insight from other religious traditions will also be featured. The upshot will be a unique theological engagement with the defining issue of our era-a work that will be as relevant as it will be engrossing. Featuring contributions from leading scholars, it will be a must-read for all students of theology, religion and media, and cultural studies.

Hardcover. Condizione: new. Hardcover. Dietrich Bonhoeffer's work has persistently challenged Christian consciousness due to both his death at the hands of the Nazis and his provocative prison musings about Christian faithfulness in late modernity. Although understandable given the popularity of both narrative trajectories, such selective focus obscures the depth and fecundity of his overall corpus. Bonhoeffer's early work, and particularly his Christocentric anthropology, grounds his later expressed commitments to responsibility and faithfulness in a "world come of age." While much debate accompanies claims regarding the continuity of Bonhoeffer's thought, there are central motifs which pervade his work from his doctoral dissertation to the prison writings. This book suggests that a concern for otherness permeates all of Bonhoeffer's work. Furthermore, Clark Elliston articulates; drawing on Bonhoeffer, a Christian self-defined by its orientation towards otherness. Taking Bonhoeffer as both the origin and point of return, the text engages Emmanuel Levinas and Simone Weil as dialogue partners who likewise stress the role of the other for self-understanding, albeit in diverse ways. This volume argues that Bonhoeffer's early work, particularly his Christocentric anthropology, grounds his later expressed commitments to responsibility and faithfulness in a "world come of age." Ellison suggests, in fact, that a concern for otherness permeates all of Bonhoeffer's work: a Christian self-defined by its orientation towards otherness. Yet his renown does not stem from box office receipts, but rather from his inimitable cinematic vision that mixes luminous shots of nature, dreamlike voiceovers, and plots centered on enduring existential questions. This volume is the first to focus on the ways in which Malick integrates theological inquiries and motifs into his films. A thorough study of an iconic filmmaker, it is an essential resource for students and scholars in the emerging field of religion and film." The book is in excellent condition. There are no inscriptions and all contents are tight and clean.
