1930 Amsterdam, hardcover linnen gebonden, 96 blz., met fotografie platen van waterwerken als sluizen en kanalen en landwerken voor treintrajecten. De Amsterdamsche Ballast Maatschappij Â(A.B.M.), opgericht in 1877 door B.H. Thüring, begon als leverancier van zand voor lege koopvaardijschepen die ballast nodig hadden voor hun zeevaart. Dit zand werd voornamelijk gewonnen uit de duinen en diende om de schepen te stabiliseren tijdens hun vaart. In de beginjaren richtte de A.B.M. zich vooral op het leveren van zand, maar breidde al snel haar activiteiten uit naar het baggeren van vaarwegen . Onder leiding van Charles de Vilder, een invloedrijke figuur in de wegenbouw, groeide het bedrijf in de vroege 20e eeuw en transformeerde het van een zandleverancier naar een volwaardige bouwonderneming. Werd uiteindelijk Ballast-Nedam. In zeer goede staat.
