Aber Gott sei Dank gibt es gewinnbringende Lektüre, die einem auf dem Spezialgebiet "Paarberatung bei Depression" sehr wirkungsvoll weiterhelfen kann. Detailreich und wissenschaftlich fundiert stellen Elsa Jones und Eia Asen die Ergebnisse einer umfassenden Studie in Großbritannien vor. Es ist ein anregendes Anwendungsbuch, das einen ermutigt, auch in schwierigeren Lagen nicht aufzugeben. Hervorzuheben sind insbesondere die Kapitel über den begrifflichen Hintergrund eines systemischen Ansatzes zur Depression und die technischen Aspekte zur systemischen Paartherapie. Hier wird Grundsätzliches aus der systemischen Therapie erläutert und insbesondere dem "Glauben an die Ressourcen" ein hoher Stellenwert beigemessen. Ebenso gelingt es den beiden Autoren immer wieder die vielfältigen komplizierten "Feedbackschleifen" in den jeweiligen therapeutischen Beziehungen herauszustellen. Bei der Lektüre wird man zwischenzeitlich an die Gewinnung eines "Extraktes systemischer Therapie und Beratung" erinnert. Wesentliche Punkte werden so kurz und knapp - aber auch verständlich - beschrieben, dass das Buch in Auszügen für ein Lehrbuch herhalten könnte. Neben den beiden englischsprachigen Verfassern gilt ein besonderer Dank auch denjenigen, welche dieses Werk in einer überaus verständlichen deutschen Übersetzung sprachlich hervorragend umgesetzt haben. Dieses Buch "Wenn Paare leiden - Wege aus der Depressionsfalle" ist eine klar strukturierte Wegbeschreibung aus der "Depression"; es wäre schön, wenn viele diese "Ausweg-Erklärungen" zur Unterstützung aller Beteiligten nutzen würden.
