Original document about the establishment of a "Library Americana" in Washington, D.C. with Henry Baldwin as the Custodian of American History. 8 1/2" x 14." Two pages (one leaf and printed front and back), complete. Two horizontal fold lines. Document is slightly age-toned and has some splitting along the folds, with the largest measuring about 1 1/2" from the edge. Small mark on back not affecting text. A Very Good copy. The document elaborates on the position of Henry Baldwin and others placed in charge of said Library Americana. Guidelines for and the purpose of the Library Americana are states in the document as well, such as the collection specializing only in materials about United States history. Document is not signed but has the printed names of Baldwin and Allen B. Endicott, Master in Chancery in New Jersey.
