The plates depict parade and battle formations and plans for encampments; the tables list the names, locations and strengths of all imperial regiments from 1685 to 1728 and their commanders. The author, a quarter master general in the imperial service, was killed in 1717 during the siege of Belgrade. An exceptionally good copy for a manual of this kind; an early owner has decorated the inside of front cover by pasting in 4 hand-coloured engraved paper cut-outs of cavalry scenes produced by the popular Augsburg engraver and print dealer Martin Engelbrecht (1684-1756) for decorating furnishings.
