Aggiungi al carrellohardcover. Condizione: Good. Our good condition books are generally good for reading but not for gifting or collecting. They could have imperfections such as creasing, fanning, inscriptions, margin notes, yellowing, staining on edge or cover or pages, bumps, scuffs, etc etc (sometimes multiple of these). It's a wide category that encompasses anything that isn't almost-new down to anything that is slightly better than poor. We would NOT recommend gifting Good books - these should be considered reading copies. Our books are dispatched from a Yorkshire former cotton mill. We list via barcode/ISBN so please note that the images are stock images and may not be the exact copy you receive, furthermore the details about edition and year might not be accurate as many publishers reuse the same ISBN for multiple editions and as we simply scan a barcode or enter an ISBN we do not check the validity of the edition data when listing. If you're looking for an exact edition please don't order (at least not without checking with us first, although we don't always have time to check). We aim to dispatch prompty, the service used will depend on order value and book size. We can ship to most countries, see our shipping policies. Payment is via Abe only.

xi, 152p., cloth boards in dj; mildly shelfworn, top edge faintly foxed. The white unglazed jacket has picked up a little soiling and edgewear. Satire, set in the first year of Watergate (we think). Expect familiar politicians disguised as to name, and revealed as to character, but perhaps to no-one's satisfaction but the author's. . The rest of us won't quite know what is going on. For instance, front and center is "Gorg of Walis, the South Wind," plainly enough George Wallace, but he was shot in 1968, there's nothing of that in the text, nor is he clearly a populist racist or anything else. Moreover "Gorg" also presents aspects of George Washington. The cast is large-- "Ugen mac Karty [Eugene MacCarthy], the philosopher-king" and "Rikard of Nikon, the loser-winner" for starters-- but cast and storyline are overwhelmed with porous dialogue. One suspects Hayden had read Barbara Garson's MACBIRD, the Kennedy assassination satire, but couldn't manage to inject any drama.

She was born in the parish of Dunquin in Kerry and married into a neighbouring island, the Great Blasket, where she spent most of her life. Students and scholars of the Irish languare came from far and wide to visit her. She was, as Robin Flower wrote in The Western Island, 'a natural orator, with so keen a sense of the turn of phrase and the lifting rhythm appropriate to Irish that her words could be written down as they leave her lips, and they would have the effect of literature with no savour of the artificiality of composition'. Her Reflections are a collection of her fireside stories.".dj.
