This copy is in strictly fine condition with no issues to mention for the beautiful blue-cloth covers with black image on front panel and black titling on the spine. The covers show no wear or damage and the interior text pages are virtually ?As New.? The jacket is in near fine condition with some crinkling and small tears at the upper edge and at the spine crown with the price of $7.95 unclipped at the inside front flap. This book features end-paper maps of the route the two Ryback?s used along the Continental Divide and the storyline of their adventure is illustrated by numerous black-and-white and some color photos by the two authors. 207 pages.

Eric completes the trifecta with his younger brother, Tim, traveling south through Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Colorado and New Mexico (3,000 miles) thus closing the circle on his three great treks: Appalachian and Pacific Crest Trails, mostly alone, all before the age of 21. He was the first to ever complete the Continental Divide trail. Quite an accomplishment for someone so young. Well written.

Jacket in Broadart. Eric Ryback hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in 1969 when he was only 17 years old. The next summer he was the first person to hike the Pacific Crest Trail, 2500 miles from Canada to Mexico. He did it in 132 days carrying an 80 pound pack. Two years later he became the first person to complete backpacking's "triple crown" by hiking 3,000 miles along the Continental Divide, approximating a route that now makes up the Continental Divide Trail. First hand account of the author's experiences hiking the Continental Divide, 3000 miles, the author's greatest challenge at his career at that point, at age 20. Previously he had already hiked the Pacific Crest Trail (first person to do so) and the Appalachian Trail. The journey took 5 months in 1972; he did it along with his younger brother Tim. During the trek they struggled with avalanches, freezing temperatures, rock slides, wildlife and scorching heat in Wyoming which finally sent Tim home. Many black and white and color photographic illustrations. . Book is bound in turquoise with dark blue illustration of two hikers on the front cover and titles on the spine. Near fine condition. Small former owner's address label top right corner of end paper. Signed by Eric Ryback with an inscription to the former owner, also a hiker. Scarce, classic hiking book. Signed by Author(s).
