Der Autor stellt sich die Aufgabe, eine universell gültige und anwendbare Moral als durch nichts zu durchbrechenden Mindeststandard menschlichen Verhaltens darzustellen. Dabei stellt er neben einer Tatsachenbeschreibung und Bewertung die Suche nach Regeln in gesonderten Theorien voran:- Freiheitstheorie: Freiheit der Menschen als von Fähigkeiten ihres Trägers plus Mitwirkung minus Gegenwirkung aus der Umwelt abhängige Möglichkeit zu selbstbestimmtem Verhalten, abgeleitet aus dem Fall der Berliner Mauer.- Verhaltenstheorie: Beschreibung und Typisierung des Handelns oder Unterlassens der Menschen zur Erhaltung des vorgegebenen Lebenszieles und zur Erreichung selbst gesetzter Zwecke samt ihren Folgen für andere (Menschen, Tiere, Pflanzen, Ökosysteme), beschränkt auf das anderen schädliche Problemverhalten.- Ethik: Bewertung und Suche nach Prinzipien und Regeln zum Schutz des betroffenen Objekts aus Verantwortlichkeit des Mensch-Seins.- Moral: Regelungen für das Verhaltenssubjekt in Verbotsform zur Ergänzung des menschlichen Gewissens als Humanmoral: für die zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen der Individuen und als Ordnung in den Gemeinschaften (Rechts- und Staatswesen) als Streitschlichtungsinstanz in Richtung Gerechtigkeit oder Naturmoral: für das Verhalten gegenüber Tieren und Pflanzen als Objekt mit direkter und gegenüber Ökosystemen mit indirekter Auswirkung auf Lebewesen.
