About half are tales of supernatural horror, while the others present crime and adventure with a macabre accent. All but five are reprinted from other collections. Part of a series of similarly titled collections that Scott and Rhys edited for this publisher, brought out by Appleton in America. The UK editions are considerably scarcer, especially in dust jacket. Bleiler (1978), p. 166. Not in Reginald (1979; 1992). Mild foxing to fore and bottom edges of text block, else a fine, bright copy in very good 3/6 printed dust jacket with light wear at edges, short tears at upper spine folds and upper rear flap fold, the three with internal tape mends, and some general dust soiling. A pretty nice example of this uncommon jacket. (#130634).
