Edition originale de la traduction française de Jacques Estourneau. Cet ouvrage de l'hagiographe et historien allemand Surius (1522-1578) était conçu comme une continuation de la chronique de Nauclerus mais c'est surtout une réplique catholique à l'Histoire de la réforme de J. Sleidan, emprunte de beaucoup de partialité et d'une passion immodérée contre les protestants. Sa valeur historique est donc profondément entachée des préjugés de l'auteur, mais n'en demeure pas moins un témoignage intéressant pour l'histoire des guerres de religion. Paru sous le titre Commentarius brevis rerum in orbe gestarum, ab anno 1500 en 1566, il fut plusieurs fois réédité, avec des augmentations.
