This is a charming, vintage instructional children's drawing book, "STEP BY STEP - WHAT SHALL WE DRAW?" by sisters Ethel M. Rice and Dorothy G. Rice. 1933 1st edition; Saml. Gabriel Sons & Company; New York. The book is designed to teach young kids the foundational s…kills of illustration through an easy-to-follow, progressive format. It focuses on the core concepts of progressive shape building, interactive storytelling, and creative confidence. Included is a drawing pad (with 19 blank pages), a 6" "transparent" ruler, and 10 circle cut-outs in various sizes for use in conjunction with the book to create various drawings. The book consists of 84 pages, with 34 instructional diagrams. Condition: Soiling to the covers and spine. The drawing pad has detached from the back flap. The book pages are in excellent condition - clean with no notable issues. At the top and bottom of the drawing pad are slots for accessories - the ruler is present at the bottom, but the pencil is missing at the top. Included are various circle cut-outs that are used to create the drawings - these cut-outs may have been stored within a pouch affixed to the inside front cover (as there is a strip of what appears to be adhesive residue that may have held the pouch in place).instead, the circle cut-outs have been placed inside a loose envelope.
