Eugen Ferge, geboren am Juli 1850 in Stetten vor der Rhön, heute OT von Sondheim vor der Rhön, als Sohn des Pfarrers Johann Michael Christoph Ferge (* 7. November 1804 in Bolleroda; 2. Januar 1886 in Rastenberg), der später Pfarrer in Umpferstedt (1856-63) und Hardisleben (1863-1877) war, gest. am 14. April 1909 in Braunschweig als Sanitätsrat). Er besuchte das Wilhelm-Ernstische Gymnasium in Weimar und studierte Medizin in Jena und Leipzig (Dissertation Leipzig 1873: "Ein neues Instrument zur Bestimmung der Durchmesser der Hornhautbasis und der Pupillenweite"). 1876 wurde er Augenarzt (später auch Sanitätsrat) in Braunschweig. Sein Hauptwerk ist sein "Bericht über Hundert Staar-Extractionen nebst einigen anderen Mittheilungen aus der Praxis" (erschienen Braunschweig 1883). --- Rückseitig mit eigenhändiger Widmung: "Eugen Ferge s./m. l.
