These have recently been reissued, making these original editions more highly collectible, particularly when they co…ntain color plates, like this one, which is illustrated by one of the leading artists of the Art Nouveau movement, Maxfield Parrish. Besides the Title Page, there are 8 color plates throughout the 199 pages of text, all intact & virtually flawless (1 has chipping at both outer corners). A FIRST EDITION, First printing in this format (First, thus) from 1904, this small quarto (7.25" x 9.5") has matte black cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering to spine (completely faded) & colorful front pastedown. Condition is Near Fine: exceptionally clean & bright, binding straight & strong, pages off-white with a shadow of age-appropriate tanning around edges, else unmarked. Former owner's bookplate inside front cover & address label on ffep; minor rubbing to extremities & slightly bumped corners. NO DJ.
