Die Übersetzungen der Isidor-Gruppe gehören zu den ältesten Prosadenkmälern des Deutschen und sind damit für die diachrone Syntaxforschung von außergewöhnlichem Interesse. Ihre beiden größten Texte - der Isidor-Traktat und das Matthäus-Evangelium - fallen außerdem aufgrund ihrer relativ guten Übersetzungsqualität auf. Diese ist jedoch keineswegs homogen: Der Traktat gilt als die bessere Übersetzung, doch weist auch er qualitative Schwankungen zwischen den relativ „originaltreuen" Passagen alttestamentarischer Bibelstellen und „gelungeneren" Kommentarteilen auf. Wirken hier verschiedene Prinzipien der Übersetzung? Können die beobachtbaren stilistischen Unterschiede zwischen Traktat und Evangelium auf nur einen Übersetzer zurückgehen?
