BOOK RESUME: Stories From Dante distills the complexities of the Inferno, Purgatorio, and Paradiso into an accessible narrative, featuring sixteen tipped-in colour plates that replicate the jewel-toned palette of traditional illuminated manuscripts and example of the 'Return to the Classics' movement. AUTHOR: Susan Cunnington was a prominent British educator and author of the late Victorian and Edwardian eras, specializing in the 'popularization of the classics' for a expanding middle-class readership. Evelyn Paul (1883-1963) acclaimed British artist and one of the most distinctive illustrators of the early 20th century. Renowned for her deep immersion in the medieval aesthetic, she developed a style that blended the intricate, jewel-toned palette of illuminated manuscripts with the flowing lines of the Arts and Crafts movement. Her sixteen tipped-in colour plates provided a haunting, visionary companion to the text. PAUL, Evelyn (illustratore).
