It contains biographies that are still important sources for historians today. Titon du Tillet wanted to create a bronze "Parnassus" (the mountain of the muses). At the top stood Louis XIV as Apollo, surrounded by figures representing famous French intellectuals such as Molière, Corneille, and Racine. Explanation of the artwork An engraved plate with an image of the French Parnassus, executed in bronze, and 17 plates with images of medallions. Titon du Tillet is only known for the monument of the French Parnassus, which he wanted to erect in honor of the reign of Louis XIV and whose model in bronze was executed by Louis Garnier. At the top of the Parnassus, Louis XIV is depicted as Apollo; below, the Three Graces are represented by the ladies de La Suze, des Houlières, and Scudéry; around the mountain, instead of the Nine Muses: Corneille, Molière, Racan, Segrais, La Fontaine, Chapelle, Racine, Boileau, and Lully holding the medallion of Quinault; medallions represent the less famous men. Dreux-Brézé continued to serve the royal household during their arrest in the Tuileries palace and emigrated to Switzerland in 1793. Ce manuscrit a été émis par le bureau du Grand-Maître des Cérémonies de Louis XVIII, le marquis de Dreux-Brézé (1762-1829), comme le prouve la signature autographe de son secrétaire en p. 2, Vacherot. Ce document rassemble la copie de toutes les pièces protocolaires émises au moment des cérémonies entourant le retour solennel du roi à Paris, en particulier le Te Deum donné en la cathédrale de Notre-Dame, le 3 mai 1814. On y trouve notamment des ordres, de la correspondance et des pièces relatives aux processions et à la préséance, ainsi que le récit des événements. Le retour de Louis XVIII, après vingt-quatre ans d'absence, est l'occasion pour les Bourbons d'organiser des cérémonies fastueuses destinées à frapper l'opinion, même si le contexte, celui de l'occupation du pays par les troupes alliées et la défaite de la France, ne prêtait pas forcément à la réjouissance. Le marquis de Dreux-Brézé, suivant en cela un très ancien usage de la cour de France, avait repris la charge familiale de Grand-Maître des Cérémonies du roi en 1781 déjà. Les fêtes de 1814 seront les premières qu'il devra prendre en main au moment de la Restauration.
