Hardcover. Condizione: Good. Condizione sovraccoperta: Good. 5th or later Edition. 6th ed. ; 720 p. illus. 22 cm ; LCCN 57011293 ; LC TK5742 .K3 1957 Dewey 384.5076 ; red cloth in pictorial color dustjacket ; Contents: Element I-basic Law 1 -- Element Ii-basic Operating Practice -- Element Iii-basic Radiotelephone -- Element Iv-advanced Radiotelephone -- Element V-radiotelegraph Operating Practice -- Element Vi-advanced Radiotelegraph -- Element Vii-aircraft Radiotelegraph. -- Element Viii-ship Radar Techniques -- Appendix I -- Part 13-rules Governing Commercial Radio Operators -- Appendix Ii-extracts From Radio Laws -- Appendix Iii-conventional Abbreviations; International Morse Code -- Appendix Iv-small Vessel Direction Finders -- Appendix V-automatic Alarm Index Of Subjects ; "This new, Sixth Edition is in full accordance with the latest revisions to the FCC Study Guide. Elements II, III, and VI have been completely revised. Element I is examined by means of the multiple choice type of test. This element will consist of 20 questions and 5 percent credit will be allowed for each correct answer. Element II consists of 50 questions and 2 percent credit will be allowed for each correct answer. Forty of the questions in Element II are given to all candidates and are of a general nature. The remaining 10 questions are in any one of three fields (aircraft, coastal or ship radio) and the candidate is allowed to choose one of these subjects. The book incorporates "Discussion" sections for most of the questions, in order to present much important background material which should add considerably to the student's knowledge regarding many varied topics. It is hoped that the discussions will save the student much time and trouble which might otherwise be spent in poring over various reference textbooks. Each question is divided into two separate sections: a short, but complete answer, and a discussion. Thus, if desired, the student, upon the first reading, may make reference only to the answer, and come back to the discussion for more intensified study at a later date. In the preparation of this Sixth Edition a painstaking effort was made to present questions in precisely the same order as appears in the most recent FCC Study Guide. Material that appeared in the Addendum of previous editions has been brought up and inserted in its appropriate elements. Thus, the Sixth Edition represents the very latest presentation of questions and answers for radio operators' license examinations. The study requirements for the various classes of license are as follows: Radiotelephone first-class operator license: Elements I, II, III, IV. Radiotelephone second-class operator license: Elements I, II, III. Radiotelephone third-class operator permit: Elements I, II. Restricted radiotelephone permit: no written or oral exam. Radiotelegraph first-class operator license: Elements I, II, V, VI. Radiotelegraph second-class operator license: Elements I, II, V, VI. Radiotelegraph third-class operator permit: Elements I, II, V. Aircraft radiotelegraph endorsement on radiotelegraph first- or second- class operator licenses: Element VII required. Ship radar endorsement on radiotelegraph or radiotelephone first- or second-class operator licenses: Element VIII required. For the reader who is interested in a listing of questions arranged by subjects (such as Radio-Frequency Amplifiers, Direction Finders, Instrument Landing System, Meters, Receivers, Transmitters, Vacuum Tubes, etc.), we refer him to the complete Index which appears at the end of the book. ; G/G. Aggiungi al carrelloTaschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - All too often the fruits of modern medicine are blighted by avoidable infection when patients on whom technical skills have been lavished die or lose a benefit they might otherwise have enjoyed. Although such a loss is expensive both in terms of human tragedy and of wasted time and resources, scant attention is paid to its prevention compared with that which goes into the development and use of the advanced techniques which so often bring infections in their train. The intravascular route for biochemical. pharmacological, nutritional and other physiological support and monitoring necessary to patients undergoing many of the demanding modern medical procedures opens a channel through which infection all too easily finds a way. When it does it may be unsuspected and un detected until too late by those whose attention is fixed on the end they seek while forgetting that the means they use can produce preventable disease. The largest medical use of the intravascular route is for 'intravenous therapy'. Lip-service is paid to the idea that this carries a significant morbidity and mortality, but surprisingly little has been done to measure its incidence or design measures to avoid it. In the early 1970s, the medical and pharmaceutical professions, and the lay public, were startled by the realization of the microbiological threat to patients infused with products which had been subject to manufacturing error in their design or pro duction.
