Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book delves into the fascinating and complex "inverse problem" in quantum scattering theory. The author explores the relationship between the energy operator of a system and its scattering operator, also known as the S-matrix. This fundamental question has captivated physicists and mathematicians for decades, with significant contributions from renowned figures like Heisenberg and Marchenko. Through meticulous analysis and insightful mathematical arguments, the author unravels the intricate connections between the S-function, the spectral function, and the potential function. The book examines various formulations of the inverse problem, offering different perspectives on its mathematical structure. Notably, it sheds light on the conditions under which a potential can be uniquely reconstructed from its S-function and discrete energy levels. This comprehensive survey provides a valuable resource for understanding the profound implications of the inverse problem in quantum scattering theory. By bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical applications, the book offers profound insights into the nature of scattering phenomena and their connection to the underlying physical systems. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.…
