Five raised bands to spine, gold embossed titling, general wear and scuffing to covers, fraying of leather at head of spine. Preliminary pages front and rear have darkened from age, title page, inteiror and all plates very clean. A striking edition. Text in French. Originally published in 18??, this later edition contained additional plates. The plates are stunning for their detail in documenting Tuscan architecture. Auguste-Henri-Victor Grandjean de Montigny (1776â"1850) was a French architect who also studied in Rome and spent his most productive years, 1816-1850 in Brazil as the sole architecture instructor at the Academy of Fine Arts as well as an architect for numerous public buildings for the government of Brazil.…
