Written to counter some of the negative sentiment that the play was gendering in the Protestant world, at the time when it was becoming popular as a tourist attraction. The author (archdeacon and canon of Westminster) witnessed the actual dress rehearsal of the play in 1890, and gives a synopsis of the action, expounds on various psychologic al and religioius aspects, and makes occasional comparisons to the English drama. He also predicts the play's eventual demise due to the encroachment of the modern, secular world. Travel; Passion play.
