Soft cover. Condizione: New. Paperback. 4to. In Arabic and Turkish. 256 p. Osmanli Arsiv Belgelerinde Müslüman Ülkeler Tarihi Serisi No. 6. (From the Series of the History of Muslim Countries in the Ottoman Archival Documents No. 6). Kuwait based on the Ottoman documents. "Kuwait in Ottoman Documents Selected documents from the…Ottoman Archives in Istanbul 1850-1900" falls within the scope of the scholarly efforts IRCICA is deploying to facilitate the access of researchers to Ottoman documents. It is the first work of its kind to contain a large number of Ottoman documents on Kuwait. The Ottoman Archives in Istanbul contain a large collection of documents related to Kuwait. However, they cannot be limited to one volume. The documents adorning the pages of this book were chosen from among thousands if not tens of thousands of documents reserved in the Ottoman Archives in Istanbul. They are selections dating back to a specific period of time and not the whole Ottoman presence in the region: they cover an important part of the history of Kuwait during the second half of the 19th century. They were chosen by Prof. Dr. Fazil Bayat considering what could be most important for researchers dealing with the history of Kuwait during that period. They shed light on major events that occurred in the Kuwait region and the relations between the Ottoman Empire and its rulers, Al Sabah family, in that period. The information they contain has been examined meticulously and with absolute accuracy. A specific method was followed in presenting the documents. The original text of each document is presented side by side with its summary in Arabic. Furthermore, the author examined and analysed each document, outlined it in a simplified form, and added clarifications whenever necessary to facilitate comprehension. As such, the book will be a useful reference to facilitate the task of researchers concerned.

Condizione: New. 2-volume set. This work, part of the "History of Muslim Countries in Ottoman Archival Documents" series published by IRCICA, focuses on Libya and will be a valuable resource for researchers, especially those whose working language is Arabic. The book contains Arabic translations and images of 683 documents of va…rying lengths, selected by Dr. Fazil Bayat from the Ottoman Archives under the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, based on their subject matter, purpose, and importance for historical research. These documents, dating from various centuries, are rare primary sources that researchers use with great care. Introducing the book, IRCICA Director General Prof. Mahmud Erol Kilic explains the aims and importance of this research series, which reflects the history of various Arab countries and Muslim countries in general, as recorded in documents related to Ottoman state administration, development policies, and local administrations. Following this, Dr. Fazil Bayat, in his introductory essay, provides information on the collections in the Ottoman Archives, the methodology he followed in this research, the document selection criteria, and the classification system. Following this, the author's 16-page account of Libyan history during the Ottoman period, based on primary and secondary sources, provides an indispensable reference text for the subjects of the documents examined in the book. The documents covered are presented in 13 chapters, arranged according to their subject matter and chronological order. The Table of Contents at the beginning of each volume is informative in itself, thanks to the headings explaining the documents. The work is completed with a 10-page map section at the end of the first volume and a comprehensive index at the end of the second volume. Editors: Translator: 587+609 pages.
