Das Stück scheint ein sehr persönliches Dokument der Bewunderung für Jansen-Bartolozzi zu sein, denn Haydn (immerhin Trauzeuge bei ihrer Hochzeit 1795!) ließ die Londoner Erstausgabe mit dem Vermerk erscheinen 'Composed expressly for and Dedicated to Mrs Bartolozzi'. Zudem überließ er ihr das Eigentumsrecht an der Sonate. Dass der zweite Satz in einer leicht abweichenden Fassung bereits 1794 bei Artaria in Wien erschienen war, mag die Pianistin nicht gewusst haben . Die revidierte Henle-Urtext-Einzelausgabe macht durch geschickt eingerichtete Ossia-Systeme beide Fassungen aufführbar und wartet zudem mit neuem Fingersatz von Christian Zacharias auf.
