Jene Zeit u. die ganze Sache liegt schon sehr lange zurück u. so habe ich keine Photos mehr. Das Interesse war auch damals gering [.]". Felix Pfeifer studierte an der Leipziger Aka…demie bei Melchior zur Strassen und wechselte später an die Kunstakademie Berlin-Charlottenburg zu Peter Breuer und Ernst Herter, um seine Ausbildung durch Studienaufenthalte in Rom wo er mit Eugen Diederichs in Berührung kam und Paris dann schließlich zu vollenden. Von 1906 bis 1911 in Dresden tätig, lebte er anschließend in Leipzig und wurde 1914 zum Professor ernannt. Neben frei- und bauplastischen Arbeiten im Leipziger Raum sind vor allem seine Leistungen auf dem Gebiet der Medaillen- und Plakettenkunst hervorzuheben. Im Volksmund wurde er daher gern Plaketten-Pfeifer' genannt. An die französischen Medailleure Charpentier, Dupuy und Roty anknüpfend, erlangte er auf diesem Gebiet überregionale Bedeutung" (Wikipedia, Abfrage v. 6. VIII. 2010). Pfeifer starb bei der Arbeit im Atelier, als er von einem umstürzenden Tonmodell erschlagen wurde. Papierbedingt leicht gebräunt.
