A l'archéologue Albert Lenoir (1801-1891), secrétaire perpétuel de l'Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Paris. « Mon cher Secrétaire perpétuel, Je viens vous prier de vouloir bien donner des ordres pour… que quelques chaudes soient obtenues à l'aide des calorifères, dans le nouveau bâtiment. Cette demande est d'autant dans l'intérêt du contenu que du contenant. La fraicheur des lieux le réclame, et je l'ai fait faire, tant que je l'ai pu. Les lieux vous sont livrés, et dès l'année dernière j'avais prévenu votre prédécesseur que la chose incombait désormais à l'administration. Je vous serai bien obligé de cette précaution et vous prie d'agréer l'expression de ma vieille amitié. Félix Duban ». Duban venait de livrer la salle de lecture au premier étage du Palais des Etudes, en lieu et place de la salle de présentation des maquettes d'architecture. Lenoir était devenu secrétaire perpétuel en remplacement de Charles-Léon Vinit (1806-1862), mort le 30 avril. [366].
