A story of two orphaned children who cared for each other but were separated and each found how to live full lives and were happily and productively reunited. The girl originally had only one show and when she got a second she went on to educate other poor children. The illustrations by the very talented Fern Bisel Peat give life to what otherwise would be just be a moralistic story.
