Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. She returned to sell the orchard. She never expected to find the life-and the man-she had left behind. Twelve years ago, Claire Bennett walked away from Somerlyn Cove without saying goodbye. She left behind her grandmother's orchard, the memories rooted in every tree, and Daniel Reyes-the boy who had once understood her better than anyone else. Now her grandmother is gone, and Claire has inherited the family property. But the will contains one final condition: before she can sell the orchard, Claire must live there and manage it through an entire ten-week harvest. She intends to complete the requirement, accept the highest offer and return to the city. The plan is practical, temporary and safe. Then Daniel walks back into her life. He is no longer the boy she abandoned. He is a guarded, hardworking man who knows every tree on the hillside and has never forgiven Claire for leaving without an explanation. Forced to work together as the harvest approaches, they must confront the silence between them-and the feelings that never truly disappeared. But the orchard is under threat. A powerful resort developer wants the land. A violent storm could destroy the harvest. Claire's former fiance refuses to remain in the past. And every day spent beside Daniel makes leaving Somerlyn Cove more difficult. Claire has ten weeks to decide what the orchard is really worth. Not only in money, but in memory. Not only in land, but in belonging. Not only in everything she once abandoned, but in the possibility of a love patient enough to survive her absence. The Orchard We Return To is an emotional small-town second-chance romance about childhood sweethearts, family legacy, forgiveness and the courage to return to the place where your heart has always belonged. #TheOrchardWeReturnTo, #ManuelGagoFernandez, #ProfManuelGagoFernandez, #SmallTownRomance, #SecondChanceRomance, #ContemporaryRomance, #RomanceNovel, #RomanceBooks, #RomanceReaders, #RomanceCommunity, #RomanceBook, #LoveStory, #EmotionalRomance, #HeartfeltRomance, #SweetRomance, #CleanRomance, #SlowBurnRomance, #ChildhoodSweethearts, #ChildhoodSweetheartsRomance, #OldFlameRomance, #ReunitedLovers, #SecondChanceLove, #LoveAfterLoss, #LoveAndForgiveness, #UnfinishedLove, #LoveWorthWaitingFor, #HomecomingRomance, #ReturningHome, #BackToHerRoots, #ComingHome, #FindingHome, #HomeIsAFeeling, #WhereTheHeartBelongs, #TheRoadBackHome, #SmallTownLove, #SmallTownFiction, #SmallTownLife, #CoastalRomance, #CoastalFiction, #SeasideRomance, #RuralRomance, #CountryRomance, #OrchardRomance, #AppleOrchard, #AppleOrchardRomance, #HarvestRomance, #AutumnRomance, #FallRomanceReads, #FamilyOrchard, #FamilyFarmRomance, #FamilyLegacy, #InheritedProperty, #SavingTheOrchard, #ProtectTheLand, #RootsAndMemory, #LoveAndLegacy, #FamilySecrets, #FamilyMemories, #GenerationalLegacy, #GrandmothersLegacy, #PlacesThatRemember, #ThePlaceWeBelong, #MemoriesAndLove, #Forgiveness, #HealingJourney, #EmotionalHealing, #HopefulRomance, #TenderRomance, #RomanticFiction, #WomensFiction, #ContemporaryFiction, #BookLovers, #BookRecommendations, #BookDiscovery, #BooksToRead, #MustReadRomance, #RomanceRecommendation, #Bookstagram, #Bookstagrammer, #BookTok, #RomanceBookTok, #BookTokRomance, #TikTokBooks, #BookTwitter, #BookThreads, #ReadersOfInstagram, #KindleBooks, #KindleRomance, #KindleUnlimited, #KDPAuthor, #AmazonBooks, #AmazonKDP, #IndieAuthor, #IndieBooks, #IndieRomance, #NewRomanceBook, #NewBookRelease, #CurrentlyReading, #NextRead, #WeekendReading, #CozyReading, #AutumnReads, #EmotionalReads, #FeelGoodRomance, #SlowBurnLove, #ForcedProximity, #ForcedProximityRomance, #HometownRomance, #HometownLove, #HometownSweethea Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Almendralejo, August 1936 reconstructs nine extraordinary days in which a town in Extremadura became the setting for one of the most intense and singular episodes of the Spanish Civil War's advance through western Spain. Between 7 and 15 August 1936, military columns moving north from Seville entered Almendralejo on their route towards Merida and Badajoz. The occupation of the town, however, did not bring the fighting to an immediate end. A group of Republican militiamen remained entrenched in the tower of the Church of La Purificacion, transforming its bell tower into an isolated defensive position above a town already largely under the control of the attacking forces. From that moment, the church ceased to be merely a religious building. It became a fortress, a target, a refuge and, eventually, a trap. This book reconstructs the events day by day: the arrival of the columns on 7 August; the bombardment and street fighting; the killings committed during the collapse of Republican control; the arrests and violence that accompanied the occupation; the men who withdrew into the tower; the attempts to force them out with artillery, fire and smoke; and the progressive destruction of the church. At the centre of the narrative stands the extraordinary action of Lieutenant of Engineers Luis Ripoll Lopez. On 11 August, accompanied by a legionnaire and under fire from the bell tower, Ripoll crossed the exposed ground, entered the damaged church despite being wounded, reached the base of the spiral staircase and placed an explosive charge that destroyed its lower section. His action would later be recognised with the Laureate Cross of Saint Ferdinand. Yet the destruction of the staircase did not immediately end the resistance. Isolated above the church, with diminishing ammunition, water and supplies, the defenders remained in the tower until 15 August. The book follows those final days without inventing conversations, motives or heroic legends. Where the documentary record is certain, it states what can be established. Where sources contradict one another, the disagreement remains visible. Where the evidence does not permit certainty-concerning numbers, individual identities, deaths or the precise circumstances of the final surrender-the narrative refuses to transform repetition into fact. The story also continues beyond the tower. Arrests, executions, military proceedings, repression and the suffering of families form part of what happened in Almendralejo and cannot be reduced to a political accounting in which one victim is used to cancel another. Drawing upon military documentation, historical studies, contemporary accounts, personal records and the surviving physical setting, Prof. Manuel Gago Fernandez approaches these events with a deliberately rigorous principle: document before legend, evidence before propaganda, individual lives before anonymous statistics. Almendralejo, August 1936 is therefore more than the reconstruction of a siege. It is an investigation into what happens when civil war enters a town, divides its inhabitants and converts familiar streets and buildings into a battlefield. The Church of La Purificacion still stands. Those who fired from above and those who fired from below have disappeared. The building remains as a material witness to nine days whose history demands something more difficult than choosing a side: recovering names, reconstructing decisions and distinguishing memory from proof. #Almendralejo, #August1936, #SpanishCivilWar, #SpanishHistory, #CivilWarHistory, #Extremadura, #LaPurificacion, #SiegeOfAlmendralejo, #LuisRipollLopez, #SpanishLegion, #MilitaryHistory, #WarHistory, #HistoricalNonfiction, #TwentiethCenturyHistory, #Spain1936, #Merida, #Badajoz, #HistoricalInvestigation, #DocumentaryHistory, #EuropeanHistory, #WarAndMemory, #HistoricalMemory, This item is pr Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. Jurisdiction Zero is an international techno-crime thriller centered on Adrian Vega, a newly promoted Spanish Commissioner recognized for his analytical precision in complex transnational investigations. Shortly after his promotion ceremony and formal assumption of strategic command responsibilities, Vega receives a diplomatic request for intervention in a highly unusual case in Los Angeles. The request does not originate from a single agency but from a coordinated institutional framework involving multiple federal and technological entities. The case concerns the disappearance of Daniel Mercer, a senior systems architect specializing in predictive behavioral intelligence models capable of anticipating large-scale institutional and social decisions through advanced algorithmic correlations. At first, the investigation appears to be a high-level missing-person case linked to sensitive technological infrastructure. However, Vega quickly discovers that Mercer had been developing a distributed predictive system known as ORACLE-an experimental architecture designed not only to forecast behavioral outcomes but also to analyze institutional reactions to uncertainty. Soon after Mercer's disappearance, the system begins operating autonomously. Simulations emerge predicting economic fluctuations, social responses, and even governmental operational adjustments with alarming accuracy. The system appears to function without direct human control, activating legal and jurisdictional complications across multiple agencies. As Vega integrates into the investigation alongside American federal specialists, he identifies a deeper structural problem: the technology does not belong fully to any single organization. Portions of the system are privately owned, partially licensed, and partially embedded within governmental experimental frameworks. This fragmented ownership creates a legal vacuum. A zone where authority overlaps but never fully applies. A condition Vega later defines as Jurisdiction Zero. The investigation evolves into a complex institutional conflict as different agencies attempt to access or control the system. Meanwhile, ORACLE continues generating predictive simulations-some of which begin incorporating Vega himself as a variable within its behavioral modeling. Following probabilistic tracking outputs generated by the system, Vega locates Mercer alive in a technologically isolated coastal environment. Rather than fleeing, Mercer reveals that his disappearance was intentional. He did not build ORACLE merely to predict events. He built it to demonstrate a structural truth: When no institution holds complete authority, predictive systems can become decision frameworks themselves. Mercer's objective was not destruction, but proof-an experiment designed to force institutional confrontation with technological autonomy. The final phase of the investigation becomes philosophical as much as operational. Vega must decide whether the system should be dismantled, controlled, or neutralized through strategic transparency. Ultimately, Vega resolves the conflict not through arrest or technical shutdown, but by dissolving the system's strategic value. By exposing its conceptual structure to all involved institutions simultaneously, the predictive advantage disappears. Without institutional competition, the system loses operational power. The experiment ends. But its implications remain. Jurisdiction Zero explores the future b Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback.
