Orig. published in 1938, this is a FIRST EDITION, First Printing, listing only to self in front matte & to previous book #16 in rear. In 218 pages + 2 pages of lists for other children's series in rear, decorative endpapers, glossy frontispiece by illustrator Paul Laune. Hardcover has red textured cloth over stamped with black lettering & bucking cowboy & horse design to front/black lettering to spine. Condition is VG+: exceptionally clean, binding strong & straight, hinges secure, pages mildly tanned but completely unmarked. A few smudge to exterior fore edge & extremely slight bumping to corners & spine tips. A handsome copy! No DJ, unfortunately. It contains 220 pages which are clean and free of marks, tears and folds. There is one b/w illustration on the frontispiece and a green/cream two page illustration on the inside cover and ffl. There are no signatures. The red cloth cover is stamped in black on the front and spine. The cover is pristine except for four very small spots on back. The corners are sharp and the binding is tight.
