Aus der Bibliothek von Prof. Wolfgang Haase, langjährigem Herausgeber der ANRW und des International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT) / From the library of Prof. Wolfgang Haase, long-time editor of ANRW and the International Journal of the Classical Tradition (IJCT). - Schutzumschlag leicht abgenutzt, insgesamt altersbedingt etwas vergilbt. Guter Zustand / Dust jacket slightly worn, overall a bit yellowed due to age. Good condition. - Imitatiothe imitation of texts or modelswas a central and pervasive activity of the Renaissance era, affecting cultural fields such as rhetoric, pedagogy, philosophy, the plastic arts, and literature. Although imitation had been an important idea in classical antiquity, it was redefined during the Renaissance; as humanists became more keenly aware of cultural loss following the Middle Ages, they struggled through imitation to rediscover and re-create the legacy of the past. This articulate book by distinguished scholar Thomas Greene deals with the uses of imitation in literature during the Renaissance period in Italy, France, and England. Greene has simultaneously accomplished three objectives: he tells the history of the concept of imitatio from Aristotle to Ben Jonson; he works out a ^theory and methodology for the analysis of imitative literary works; and he studies textual imitation in the poetry of Petrarch, Poliziano, Ronsard, Du Bellay, Wyatt, and Jonson, discussing as well their own imitative theories. This book is the first thorough study of imitatio covering theory and practice in a full range of Renaissance poets. More than this, however, it is a book that addresses the perennial problems of literary change, of historical understanding, and of the authority of the past, problems that are of concern to every student of literature. Aggiungi al carrelloPaperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book is an in-depth study of the diverse range of oribatid mites found in the Pacific Northwest. As the most abundant group of soil-dwelling arthropods, the ecological significance of these tiny organisms cannot be ignored, as they play fundamental roles in nutrient cycling and are a major food source for many other soil animals like beetles and fungi. From the smallest, barely visible species, to larger penknife mites that roll into a protective ball, the complex morphologies of these intricate creatures are fully illustrated, making this book accessible to specialists and laypeople alike. With an emphasis on identification, this book provides the necessary tools to distinguish and understand these fascinating creatures for both scientific study and personal enjoyment. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item.
