Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. 1st Edition. "Tapestry: A Woven Narrative" is a general introduction to the state of artisan tapestry weaving in the twenty-first century. Tapestry is considered by many to be a conservative, perhaps regressive textile medium, largely associated with the dense pictorial works of the Middle Ages,… or the floral Mille-fleurs style works of fifteenth and sixteenth century France and Belgium. In reality, the medium is constantly developing, with contemporary artists creating more and more abstract and progressive works, whether within the traditional 'gobelin' style of pictorial artisan weaving, the controversial jacquard style of mechanical tapestry production, or other more unconventional approaches to textile creation. All of these are exemplified in "Tapestry: A Woven Narrative's" rich visual approach to the medium. This copy is in very good condition with minimal markings to the cover.
