Trade Paperback. Condizione: Very Good. 90 Pages. Gold store label on back cover and first three pages have loosened. No other marks or stamps. In his old age, the venerable John Adams, long retired from the Presidency and public life but still vitally interested in his country, wondered whether the history of the American Revolution would or could ever be written. Several generations of writers have certainly made the attempt to examine all phases of that momentous event, but John Adams always maintained that the real revolution occurred in the minds and hearts of the American people for more than a decade before the battles at Lexington and Concord, and that the independence of the American colonies was inevitable. The author of this work has not tried to write a narrative history of the first year of the Revolution, nor has he tried to create a diary such as that compiled so successfully from various newspapers and periodicals by Frank Moore more than a century ago. He has, instead, prepared a chronology of important events relating to the first year of that struggle on an almost day-by-day basis. It will be noted that the preponderance of entries are in the second half of the year, for there were almost daily events worth noting after the initial battles and the convening of the Second Continental Congress with the inevitable spread of belligerent attitudes to other parts of the country.
