Pages are clean and tight, as if unused. Pages not numbered, 59 pages. Lavishly illustrated with 50 color pages of Marin's paintings. Guide to an e…xhibition at the Kennedy Galleries October 4--29, 1983. John Marin (1870 1953) was an early American modernist artist. He is best known for his abstract landscapes and watercolors. In 1909, Marin first met oted photographer Alfred Stieglitz. Marin's association with Stieglitz would last almost 40 years, and Stieglitz's philosophical and financial support would prove essential. From 1909 until his death in 1946, Stieglitz showed Marin's work virtually every year in one of his galleries. Marin also participated in the landmark 1913 Armory Show. Illustrated by John Marin (illustratore).

Soft cover. Condizione: Fine. Not Indicated. John Marin was an early Modernist artist. He is best remembered as one of the first Americans dedicated to making abstract paintings, and is thus credited as a major influence on the later Abstract Expressionist movement. He was closely associated with the photographer Alfred Stieglit…z, who mounted Marin's first solo show in 1909, and Stieglitz's artistic and financial support were invaluable to Marin over the course of the following four decades. Born on December 23, 1870 in Rutherford, NJ, Marin's mother died just nine days after his birth. He graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 1901 and traveled to Europe, where he developed his signature watercolor technique of abstraction. Marin died on October 1, 1953 in Addison, Maine. In 2007, The White House acquired his 1952 painting The Circus No. 1, and his work is held in institutions such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Color Plates (illustratore).

Paperback. Condizione: new. Paperback. The most profound moments in justice don't happen in a courtroom. They happen in the fragile space where people confront pain, loss, and uncertainty, seeking a way forward. With nine thousand mediations under his belt, Judge Lawrence H. Fleischman has seen almost every kind of case there is:… Famous NBA star Shaquille O'Neal who learned the hard way that sometimes it's better not to be so famous. A falsely accused murderer confronting law enforcement officials who knew he didn't do it. An anorexic woman suing the rehab facility that accidentally placed her in a group for overeaters. A divorcing husband and wife whose custody battle ended with the couple making out in the courtroom.Inside the Mediation Room: Insights and Tales from My Career as a Mediator gives us a glimpse into the crazy disputes people find themselves in and the (occasionally unconventional) ways they're resolved. At turns humorous, heartbreaking, and inspiring, Fleischman's stories help demystify this corner of our justice system, showing us what mediators do behind the scenes. More importantly, they reveal how mediation can encourage participants to be empathetic when emotions run hot . . . and help ensure fairer outcomes for everyone. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.
