Fred Fletcher recounts his experiences in Raleigh, as a Southerner in school in Chicago, as a broadcaster and as a sometimes politician and full-time recreation proponent. When Fred helped put Raleigh's second radio station on the air , Raleigh was in a very different place. There was little traffic and no traffic jams. The Raleigh Caps and the Big Four football teams provided most of the excitement. And the city paid its employees in cash. Fred Fletcher was an active part of Raleigh's growth for more than a half-century--and as the Fairy Tale Man, Peter Rabbit, Bozo the Clown, and as the irrepressible Fred Fletcher, he provided everybody with more than a few chuckles along the way.
