Paperback. Condizione: New. Print on Demand. This book examines the history of humanitarian relief efforts in the context of a globalized world, arguing that contemporary relief organizations are constrained by the very systems they seek to overcome. The author traces the evolution of humanitarianism from its religious roots to its modern secularized form, demonstrating how the concept of the 'human' has been shaped by shifting political, economic, and social forces across time. The result is a nuanced analysis of the challenges facing humanitarianism today, shedding light on the tensions between local and global approaches to aid, the role of technology in shaping relief efforts, and the ethical dilemmas inherent in providing assistance in conflict zones. Ultimately, this book contributes to a deeper understanding of the complex relationship between humanitarianism and the forces that shape our globalized world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
